Daisy and BEE Awards
Special Event Running All Year
Are partner recognition programs in healthcare that honor staff for exceptional, compassionate care. The DAISY award recognizes nurses, while the BEE (Being Exceptional Everyday) Award honors nursing support staff and non—nursing team members. Both awards celebrate staff who demonstrate excellence in their roles.
Colorado River Quilters is sponsoring these awards at Valley View Regional Medical Center. We anticipate our needs to be 8 laptop quilts for the DAISY awards and 8 laptop quilts for the BEE awards. You can use bees and daisy fabrics, quilts with appliques or embroidery.

Quilt As You Go

Melinda wants to offer the opportunity to finish the workshop we started in April (She's feeling guilty). If you are interested and available, she will finalize the "Quilt As You Go" workshop on Thursday, September 24, from 9 to 2 pm (brown bag lunch). Can you please let me know by Friday (sobraskem@gmail.com), so we can make arrangements at the church.

Charity Workshop
Thursday, October 8 – 9AM - 3:00PM:
Where: Hope Methodist Church
You can come and help cut, sew and/or make kits. We need many helping hands to
complete our club charity goals.
Our goal is to complete 75 each of the following items for the children’s Christmas party.
Our completion goal date is 11/19.
1. Pillowcases – Some Kits will be available at the workshops on 10/8 & 11/12. If you have fabric for the pillowcase project that you’d like to donate and work with, please bring it to this workshop. A demonstration will be done by Melinda at the workshop.
Fabric required:
1- 26 ½” x width of fabric (WOF) for body of pillowcase
1- 2 ½” x WOF accent strip (accent strip may be 1 ½” – 2 ½ “)
1- 8 ½” x WOF for border hem
2. Christmas Stockings – Kits will be provided and a demonstration will be done by Melinda.
3. Pillows – All materials will be provided. We need to sew and stuff them.
Finished Pillows will be 12 by 12 Inches.
4. Making kits for the above items. What to bring
1. Sewing Machine, thread (variety of colors), scissors, pins, cutting tools
2. Sergers can be used but you must know how to set it up and use it.
3. If you have fabric for any of the above projects you want to donate, please bring it to this workshop.
4. Bring your lunch.
Also, we will be collecting empty paper towel cardboard rolls (instead of toilet paper rolls).
We will have a box for collecting these at the workshops and meetings through November.
